I think he bested Robert in strategy (Robert needed to depend on Ned for that), in being a husband (not that great work on Stannis’ part, but less sleeping-around and beating-up-his-wife), in surviving, and in general living.

And Renly should have been happy with being named Stannis’ heir, damn it!
